Volume 15 Issue 01 – September 7, 2018

Prestige School is pleased to welcome all of our students, new and old, for the 2018/2019 school year.

The first week went smoothly and students and teachers are adjusting well.

The beginning of a new year means a fresh start and an opportunity to set new goals to improve and develop your learning skills. Let’s make this school year the best one we’ve had!

We would like to welcome our new staff members to the Prestige School family:

Ms. Natanya – PS/JK Homeroom

Ms. Cathrine – Homeroom Gr. 1

Mr. Quick – Phys. Ed. Teacher

Mr. Andrej – Math Teacher

Mrs. Fisher – English Teacher

Mr. Giardetti – Social Studies Teacher

Mr. Briggs – High School Teacher

Mr. Gregory – Math/Physics Teacher

This month’s character trait is RESPECT. Respect means treating others the way you want to be treated. Being considerate and honoring the feelings, opinions, and property of others. Self-respect means being good to yourself, not putting yourself down, and taking care of yourself.

This year Prestige School students in grades 1 to 12 will be using Google Classroom instead of Moodle. Google Classroom is user friendly for teachers, students, and parents. Google Classroom is currently in the process of being set up and administration asks for your patience during this time.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

This month Prestige School will be raising money for the 2018 Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. Mr. Quick kicked off this event with an assembly this Friday, September 7th. A guest speaker from the Terry Fox Foundation spoke to students.

Mr. Quick revealed this year’s challenge and fundraising goal. “If Prestige School raises $2000, then the student that raises the most from each grade will get to silly string Mr. Quick. “

With the help and dedication of every student and their family, Prestige School will be able to meet and hopefully exceed this year’s goal.

Pledge forms and money are due to Mr. Quick on Thursday, September 27th, which is also the date Prestige School will be participating in the Terry Fox Run around the neighbourhood.

KG to grade 2 will be going to the Toronto Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, September 26th.

Grade 3 – 8 will be going to the Battle Archery on Wednesday, September 19th.

Grade 9 – 12 will be going to the Treetop Trekking in Barrie on Monday, September 24th.

For all trips, students are expected to bring their own lunches and snacks, to be in comfortable sports attire, and to be dressed appropriately for the weather.

Please follow the below reminders:

Parents/guardians must leave their child in the front foyer with the teacher on duty. Only students are allowed to go to their classroom in the morning. Please reread the new drop-off/pick-up procedure that will be emailed out.

When parking in the school parking lot, please park front first along the fence. Do not park in the driveway leading into the parking lot. This causes congestion and delays others.

Thank you for your cooperation.
