WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

Prestige School is pleased to welcome all of our students, new and old, for the 2019/2020 school year.

The first week went smoothly and students and teachers are adjusting well.

The beginning of a new year means a fresh start and an opportunity to set new goals to improve and develop your learning skills. Let’s make this school year a year to remember!

We would like to welcome our new staff members to the Prestige School family:

Ms. Irena – KG

Ms. Price – Homeroom Gr. 1

Ms. Rachel – Homeroom Gr. 2

Mr. Ilya – Mathematics Teacher

CHARACTER EDUCATION – COURAGE

The month of September is when schools across Canada raise money for cancer in honour of Terry Fox. Terry Fox showed the world his courage when he started his run across Canada.

This month’s character trait is courage. Courage is one of Prestige School’s core values.

Courage is doing the right thing in the face of difficulty and following your conscience instead of the crowd.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Prestige School students in grades 1 to 12 will continue using Google Classroom. Google Classroom is user friendly for teachers, students, and parents. Students and parents are expected to check their Google classes daily for updates on assignments, tests, and homework.

Google classes are set up and ready to use. Please ensure that your child has the correct classes. Thank you for your cooperation.

TERRY FOX KICK-OFF ASSEMBLY

This month Prestige School will be raising money for the 2019 Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. Mr. Quick kicked off this event with an assembly this Friday, September 6th.

Mr. Quick revealed this year’s challenge and fundraising goal. “If Prestige School raises $2000, then the student that raises the most from each grade will get to silly string Mr. Quick. “

With the help and dedication of every student and their family, Prestige School will be able to meet and hopefully exceed this year’s goal.

Pledge forms and money are due to Mr. Quick on Thursday, September 26th, which is also the date Prestige School will be participating in the Terry Fox Run around the neighbourhood.

SEPTEMBER FIELD TRIPS

KG to grade 2 will be going to the Toronto Zoo on Monday, September 23rd.

Grade 3 – 7 will be going to Joe Rock Heads on Thursday, September 19th.

Grade 9 – 12 will be having an Escape Bus Adventure in school on Wednesday, September 25th.

PARENT/GUARDIAN REMINDERS

Please follow the below reminders:

Parents/guardians must leave their child in the front foyer with the teacher on duty. Only students are allowed to go to their classroom in the morning. Please reread the drop-off/pick-up procedure that was emailed out.

When parking in the school parking lot, please park front first along the fence. Do not park in the driveway leading into the parking lot. This causes congestion and delays others.

Do not park in the bus loading zone on Eddfield Avenue this delays our school buses from dropping of students.

Thank you for your cooperation.
