Remembrance Day– November 11th
Remembrance Day is coming up on Monday, November 11th and Prestige School wants to ensure that students are honouring this special day.
Poppies have been available to students since Thursday, November 12th. If they have not already done so, students can bring in a small donation ($1-2) and receive a poppy from their homeroom teacher.
Prestige School will be holding an assembly on Monday in order to commemorate those who fought and continue to fight for our freedom. Ms. Bedford and select students have prepared a performance for the assembly and select English students from Ms. Jennifer’s English classes will be sharing their poems written for the Royal Legion Remembrance Day literary contest.
Prestige School will be standing for a moment of silence at 11:00am during the assembly to remember those who have sacrificed their lives so we can have peace, freedom and safety.
Prestige School has designated November 11th– 15th as Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week to help promote a safe school and a positive learning environment.
During this week, Prestige School students will be learning more about bullying and its effect on student learning and well-being.
Prestige School will start off Bullying Awareness and Prevention week with a kick-off assembly on Tuesday, November 12th. On Thursday, November 14th, homeroom teachers will dedicate 7th period to a bullying prevention lesson and activities.
By organizing Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week activities, Prestige School is hoping to effect positive change in student well-being.
We have three upcoming field trips this month for KG– Gr.2, Gr. 3-8 and high school.
KG to grade 2 will be going to the High Park Nature Centre on Wednesday, November 20th to take part in the Busy Squirrels Workshop.
Grades 4 to 8 will be going to Variety Village on Thursday, November 28th to participate in the Ability in Action program.
Finally, the high school students will be going to The Chef Upstairs to participate in a cooking workshop.
All field trip forms and money will be due no later than Wednesday, November 13th.
Elections for the elementary school council will be happening in the near future. If you are in grade 7-8, then you are eligible to run for president or vice president. If you are in grades 4-6, you are eligible to run for other positions such as treasurer, secretary, information technology officer or class representative. Election dates will be announced soon. If you have any further questions, please see Ms. Yana.
