On Monday, November 11th, Prestige School held its Remembrance Day assembly to honour and commemorate all those who fought and died in the line of duty to keep us free. Students and staff donated money to wear their poppies in order to support those whose lives have been affected by war.
The assembly started off with Katy K., Matthew S., and Sophia S. from grade 4 sharing with us some reasons why we celebrate Remembrance Day and some information on the origin of this significant day. During the assembly, Alisa T. (Gr.5), Elizabeth V. (Gr. 5), Eric C. (Gr. 6), Alexandra T. (Gr.7) and Edwin I. (Gr.8) shared with the school their poems and essays they wrote for the Royal Legion Contest.
At 11:00am, students and staff stood for two minutes of silence in order to honour those we have lost. A big thank you goes out to Ms. Brittany for organizing the assembly, Mr. Briggs for providing music during our time of silence, and Ms. Jennifer for helping and selecting students to present their writing.
On Tuesday, November 12th, Officer Phil came in to speak to all students from KG– Gr. 12 to start off Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. Officer Phil spoke to each grade about the types of bullying, how to identify a bully, and the effects of it. He also talked about different strategies students can use if they or someone they know is being bullied. Thank you Officer Phil for taking the time to come and talk to our students.
On Thursday, November 14th, students spent last period taking part in bullying prevention activities that included watching a video, role playing, creating skits and group discussion.
Thank you Ms. Catherine and Ms. Rachel for organizing the assembly and activities for all grades.

High School student council is officially in the works! Mr. Briggs and the high school students are currently in the process of elections and will be announcing the council soon.
The council’s purpose and objective is to represent the high school students of Prestige School, voice the concerns of the students and unify the student body through social activities and community service opportunities.
Stay tuned!
Ms. Olga, Ms. Irene and the grade 7 students hosted a bake sale on Wednesday and Thursday of this week to raise money for the winter concert. The bake sale was a great success! Thank you to all the students and parents/guardians who donated snacks and desserts.
