Our Emerging DECA Leaders!

Congratulations to our emerging leaders on moving on to the DECA Provincial Level Competitions that will take place in February 2020: Mila T. (President), Alice I. (Vice– President), and Paul M. (VP of Communications).

Meanwhile, our grade 9 students will be getting ready for the May 2020 Financial Literacy Competition: Max M., Polina P., Nikita C., David D., and Elizabeth Z.

Also, grade 10 students, Kayla G. and Maxim M., will be taking part in LDA (Leadership Development Academy) and will be a part of the February 2020 DECA Provincial Competition.

Ms. Yana, DECA chapter’s primary advisor, held a business lunch meeting on Monday, where they celebrated and discussed their results from the recent Regional Competition that took place on Saturday, November 23rd. Ms. Yana presented ribbons and medals to the DECA students at Tuesday’s assembly.

Great work, students! Prestige School is very proud of you.

This Month’s Assembly

On Tuesday, November 26th, the KG class sang a song about December’s character trait: compassion! We hope to see everyone demonstrating this character trait everyday!

Ms. Natanya and the kindergarten students also handed out November’s character trait certificates to the students who demonstrated gratitude this month:
JK: Ariel B.
SK: Roma K.
Gr. 1: Emily I.
Gr. 2: Alice Z.
Gr. 3: Lali K.
Gr. 4: Sophia S.
Gr. 5: Sonya R.
Gr. 6: Leon R.
Gr. 7: Beatrice S.
Gr. 8: Sheina V.

Math Award

Special recognition must be given to David K. for receiving a perfect score on the Gauss Contest from last spring. While an accomplishment such as this requires a natural talent for mathematics, it is also true that talent alone does not usually result from this level of proficiency. Ms. Irene also deserves congratulations for this success as well.
A medal was awarded to David K. by Ms. Margold and Ms. Irene at the end of the assembly.

High School Field Trip: The Chef Upstairs

On Wednesday, November 27th, high school students from grades 9-12 went to The Chef Upstairs to take a cooking class. Students learned some new culinary skills and techniques while cooking a delicious three- course meal, which consisted of caesar salad with garlic bread, homemade ravioli and cookies for dessert.

Students had a great time being chefs for the day! Please check out our school gallery on our website or Facebook for more pictures!

Gr. 3-8 Field Trip: Variety Village

On Thursday, November 28th, students from grades 3-8 went to Variety Village to take part in the Ability in Action program.

Students had a great time participating in adapted sports, such as wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball!

High School Student Council

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

The high school student council has been formed! The following students will be representing the high school student body for the 2019/2020 school year:
President: Patricia B.
Co Vice– Presidents: Mila T. and Alice I.
Gr. 9-10 Representative: David D.
Gr. 11-12 Representative: Alina K.
Communications Officer: Vlad G.

Congratulations students! Thank you to the Faculty Advisor, Mr. Briggs, for organizing, forming and advising this year’s high school student council.

High School student council will be assisting Ms. Irene and Mr. Ilya with the holiday food drive. The drive will start on Monday, December 2nd and will go all the way until Wednesday, December 18th. Students can donate their non-perishable items at the front door of the school. Those who donate will have their names written on a paper heart to form a beautiful holiday tree at the front of the school. It is the season for giving and it’s important our students learn to be selfless during this holiday season.
