THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

Prestige School students brought in an impressive amount of non-perishable food donations/hygiene products for our Thanksgiving donation box. Joshua C. (Gr. 3), Aryan S. (Gr. 6), Elizabeth S. (Gr. 5), Ms. Ivana, and Ms. Catherine delivered all collected items to Toronto Fire Station 121 in an effort to give back to the community and help those who may need a little extra assistance this Thanksgiving. Thank you to all the students and teachers who participated in this charitable program. A special thank you also goes out to Ms. Ivana and the Grade 3 class for organizing the event.

PICTURE RE-TAKE DAY

On October 19th, students who missed Picture Day or would like to re-take their picture can do so in the gym from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their complete school uniform and brings their brightest smile!

PRELIMINARY REPORT CARDS

Preliminary Report Cards will be given to students from grades 9-12 on Tuesday October 20th, and students from grades 1-8 will receive theirs on Friday October 23rd. This report card will provide an overview of how each student is progressing thus far.   Furthermore, the Report Cards will include suggestions made by each homeroom teacher to help students improve.

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to review the Preliminary Report Cards with their child(ren), and to sign and return them to the school by October 29th.

HALLOWEEN

Dress-up for students and teachers will take place on Friday, October 30th. Students should come to school in their normal street clothes (it is a non-uniform day) and bring their costume to change into for our Halloween Festivities. Cohorting and Social distancing measures will continue to be met. Each class will have their own party during 6th and 7th period.

Costumes should be:

1. Practical and Safe – Students should be able to work at their desks and move throughout the building without being physically inhibited or a hazard to anyone.

2. Respectful/Not Controversial – They should not be offensive to a gender, nationality, race, or religious group.

3. Non-Violent/Not Gory, graphic, or scary.

4. Modest – Students must wear costumes that cover themselves and adhere to the dress code.

5. Costume masks may not be worn. Medical/cloth masks should be used in hallways and washrooms. Hats may be worn if they are part of the costume but should be removed during class time.

6. Students are not permitted to bring props of any kind to school. This includes items such as knives, swords, etc.

7. No makeup or hair spray should be brought to school.

CHANGING WEATHER

With the change in weather, administration would like to remind students to come to school dressed for the weather conditions. This means being dressed appropriately during recess and after school activities. On days with colder temperatures, students should have hats, gloves/mittens, boots, and warm layered clothing to ensure comfort. It may even be a good idea to bring extra socks and splash pants in case wetness occurs.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
