WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
Prestige School is pleased to welcome all of our students, new and old, for the 2021/2022 school year.
The first week went smoothly and students and teachers are adjusting well.
The beginning of a new year means a fresh start and an opportunity to set new goals to improve and develop your learning skills. Let’s make this school year the best one we’ve had!
We would like to welcome our new and returning staff members to the Prestige School family:
Returning from maternity leave:
Ms. Jennifer – Gr. 8 Homeroom and Gr. 5 – 8 English Teacher
Mme. Nicole – Gr. 5 – 9 French Teacher
New:
Ms. Veronica – PS/JK Homeroom
Mr. Jay – Phys. Ed. Teacher
Mr. Maw – High School Teacher
CHARACTER EDUCATION – COURAGE
This month’s character trait is COURAGE. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. Terry Fox is a perfect example of courage. This month teachers will be looking out for acts of courage and a student from each grade (KG – gr. 8) will receive the character trait certificate for this month.
Be like Terry and triumph over your fears this month students.
TERRY FOX KICK-OFF ASSEMBLY
This month Prestige School will be raising money for the 2021 Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. Mrs. Amanda kicked off this event with an assembly this Friday, September 10th.
Mrs. Amanda revealed this year’s challenge and fundraising goal. “If Prestige School raises $1000, then the student that raises the most from each grade will get to throw a water balloon at Mrs. Amanda.“
With the help and dedication of every student and their family, Prestige School will be able to meet and hopefully exceed this year’s goal.
Donations are collected online again this year. It’s easy, secure and a great way to collect donations!

Prestige School will be participating in the Terry Fox Run around the neighbourhood on Thursday, September 30th during first and second period.
ORANGE SHIRT DAY
Prestige School will be participating in Orange Shirt Day. This is a day when we wear an orange shirt to honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada and learn more about the history of those schools.
On Thursday, September 30th, students can pay $1 to wear an orange shirt. All proceeds will go towards the the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund. This fund’s goal is to improve the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all peoples in Canada.
