Volume 18 Issue 10 – February 11, 2022

Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis (MS) in the world, with an estimated 100 000 Canadians living with this disease. It is often diagnosed in young adults aged 15 – 40.

Prestige School will be participating in the MS Read-a-Thon fundraiser. This year’s fundraising goal is $1500. Students will read as much as they can, from January 27th to February 28th. During this time, students should collect online donations from family and friends.

The MS Read-a-Thon has made online fundraising easy for parents to track their child’s progress and to celebrate every win. Each child can earn Reward Badges for the goals they achieve. Parents can make a page for their child on the Prestige School fundraising page and encourage family and friends to donate.

There will be three ways we will be raising money to reach our goal.

1) Online donations: Click click on “Help Us Reach Our Goal” to donate today!

2) Valentine’s Day: On Monday, February 14th, students can pay $2 to wear red, white, or pink to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Those students that decide not to pay $2, will have to wear school uniform.

3) Crazy Hat Day: On Friday, February 25th, students can design a hat creatively and wear it at school. The student with the craziest hat will win a prize. Students that wear a hat will pay $2.

Let’s work together to meet our goal and make this the best year in MS fundraising!

Prestige School students have mathematics competitions this month.

On Wednesday, February 23rd, high school students will be participating in the following:

Pascal Contest (grade 9)

Cayley Contest (grade 10)

Fermat Contest (grade 11)

On Thursday, February 24th, students in grades 5 to 8 will be participating in the Math League Contest.

Good luck to all students!

Wednesday, February 23rd, is Pink Shirt Day. On this day, students and teachers around Canada are encouraged to wear a pink shirt to raise awareness in support of anti-bullying.

Prestige School students can wear a pink shirt with their uniform pants. If students do not have a pink shirt, then they have to wear school uniform.

Prestige School will be closed Friday, February 18th and Monday, February 21st for the Family Day long weekend.

Enjoy your extra long weekend with your families.
