CHARACTER EDUCATION ASSEMBLY

On Tuesday, September 20th, Prestige School held this year’s first character education assembly for RESPECT. Many students have been respectful this month, but some have been noticeably more. The students who received this month’s certificate are:

JK: Marz

SK: Atharv

Gr. 1: Abigail Sp.

Gr. 2: Alice

Gr. 3: Roman and Katya

Gr. 4: Ilham

Gr. 5: Amrit

Gr. 6: Eva

Gr. 7: Tom

Gr. 8: Michael

October’s character trait is TEAMWORK, which is working respectfully and effectively with a group and doing your share. Mrs. Amanda and the grade 5s performed a skit on teamwork for the school. Great job grade 5s!

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

The Daily Bread Food Bank is a registered charity that is fighting hunger in our communities. Every year Prestige School collects non-perishable foods for the families in need at Thanksgiving. This year our food drive is from October 1st to 7th.

Ms. Ivana and Ms. Zahra are organizing this year’s food drive. They are asking students to bring a bag of non-perishable foods. Please bring your bag to Ms. Ivana and she will put your name on the board in the front foyer.

Let’s make this year our most productive year yet!

TERRY FOX RUN

On Thursday, September 22nd, Prestige School students and teachers participated in the Terry Fox School Run. Students had fun running or walking in the neighbourhood to carry on Terry’s legacy.

Prestige students raised $2789 for the Terry Fox Foundation! Amazing job this year! That’s more than last year’s total. Thank you to everyone that donated. Since we exceeded our goal, Mrs. Amanda allowed students that raised $100 or more to dump water on her. Thank you Mrs. Amanda for motivating our students and for organizing the run. Check out our gallery for more pictures.

Honourable mentions:

Madelaine (gr. 2) collected over $600 in donations! She was the top fundraiser in the whole school.

Joshua (gr. 5) collected $220 in donations!

SEPTEMBER FIELD TRIPS

On Monday, September 26th, students in grades 6 to 8 went to Downsview Park to spend the day outdoors. They participated in hangar sports and outdoor cooperative games. Students had a great day. Check out our gallery for more pictures.

On Wednesday, September 28th and Thursday, September 29th, students in grades 3 to 5 and KG to grade 2 (respectively) went to Black Creek Pioneer Village. They discovered the many challenges that faced communities in the 19th century, as well as the roles that family members, farm animals, and plants played on a family farm. Students had fun exploring pioneer life. Check out our gallery for more pictures.

DECA

On Thursday, September 29th, Ms. Yana and DECA students, Polina P. (President), Max M. (Vice President), Karolina R., Alexander B., and Gleb G. attended the Fall Symposium at Capitol Banquet Halls. The conference consisted of a variety of workshops designed for DECA members to help develop their competitive skills, networking skills, social and people skills, and the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills. Students learned a lot while having fun!
