CHARACTER EDUCATION

This Tuesday, January 24th, was January’s character education assembly. This month focused on patience. Many of the students have been patient this month, but some have been noticeably more. The students who received this month’s certificate are:

JK: Daniel K.

SK: Leonardo A.

Gr. 1: Ronalda Y. and Griffin G.

Gr. 2: Victor S.

Gr. 3: Margaret W. and Veer S.

Gr. 4: Noam B.

Gr. 5: Vladimir S.

Gr. 6: Leah E.

Gr. 7: Jessie L.

Gr. 8: Nicolas J.

February’s character trait is INCLUSIVITY, which is the means by which individuals from all backgrounds are engaged, integrated, motivated, and valued.

Ms. Dana and the grade 3s performed skits to show what inclusivity means. Great work!

MS READ-A-THON

Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis (MS) in the world, with an estimated 100 000 Canadians living with this disease. It is often diagnosed in young adults aged 15 – 40.

Prestige School will be participating in the MS Read-a-Thon fundraiser. This year’s fundraising goal is $1800. Students will read as much as they can, from January 16th to February 28th. During this time, students should collect online donations from family and friends.

The MS Read-a-Thon has made online fundraising easy for parents to track their child’s progress and to celebrate every win. Each child can earn Reward Badges for the goals they achieve. Parents can make a page for their child on the Prestige School fundraising page and encourage family and friends to donate.

There will be four ways we will be raising money to reach our goal:

1) Online donations: Click https://www.msreadathon.ca/fundraisers/PrestigeSchoolTorontoCampus to donate today!

2) Valentine’s Day: On Tuesday, February 14th, students can pay $2 to wear red, white, and/or pink to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Those students that decide not to pay $2, will have to wear school uniform.

3) Pink Shirt Day: On Wednesday, February 22nd, students can pay $2 to wear a pink shirt in awareness and support of anti-bullying. Those students that decide not to pay $2, will have to wear school uniform.

4) Crazy Hat Day: On Monday, February 27th, students can design a hat creatively and wear it at school. The student with the craziest hat will win a prize. Students that wear a hat will pay $2.

Students can pay $5 to participate in all three days. All proceeds go towards the MS Read-a-Thon. If students do not want to participate in all three days, then they will pay $2 for each event they participate in. Money for these fun days are due by Friday, February 3rd the latest.

Let’s work together to meet our goal and make this the best year in MS fundraising!
