CHARACTER TRAIT ASSEMBLY
On Monday, September 23rd, Prestige School held this year’s first character education assembly for RESPECT. Many students have been respectful this month, but some have been noticeably more. The students who received this month’s certificate are:
JK: Amelia
SK: Everly
Gr. 1: Paislee
Gr. 2: Mia
Gr. 3: Ronalda
Gr. 4: Daniel
Gr. 5: Julia
Gr. 6: Aran
Gr. 7: Dina
Gr. 8: Abigail
October’s character trait is TEAMWORK, which is coming together to solve a problem or achieve a shared goal. Mrs. Amanda and the grade 7s prepared skits to show the results of teamwork and no teamwork. Great job grade 7s!
DECA
Prestige School’s DECA club had their first meeting with other DECA teams around Ontario. Ms. Yana and our DECA team went to the Fall Symposium at Chateau le Jardin. Students had fun networking with other students and teacher advisors. This year’s DECA club consists of 15 students from our Toronto Campus and 4 students from our Richmond Hill Campus. Here’s to a great DECA year for our students and Ms. Yana.
TERRY FOX RUN
On Thursday, September 26th, Prestige School students and teachers participated in the Terry Fox School Run. Students had fun running or walking in the neighbourhood to carry on Terry’s legacy of the Marathon of Hope. Prestige students raised the most they ever have in 17 years of the run – $3150.95! Amazing job this year! Thank you to everyone that donated.
Since we exceeded our goal, Mrs. Amanda allowed students that raised $100 or more to throw a shaving cream pie at her. Thank you Mrs. Amanda for organizing the Terry Fox Run every year and for creating exciting challenges that students will remember forever. Check out our gallery for more pictures.
Honourable mentions:
Madelaine (gr. 5) collected $750 in donations! She was the top fundraiser in the whole school, and created a new record for herself. She got to place her huge shaving cream pie where she wanted on Mrs. Amanda and she got to dump a huge bucket of water over Mrs. Amanda’s head.
There was an anonymous donation of $500, and Avelea (gr. 5) collected $250 in donations.
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
The Daily Bread Food Bank is a registered charity that is fighting hunger in our communities. Every year Prestige School collects non-perishable foods for the families in need at Thanksgiving. This year our food drive is from September 30th
to October 11th.
Ms. Sabrina and Ms. Michelle are organizing this year’s food drive. They are asking students to bring a bag of non-perishable foods. Please give your bag of food to your homeroom teacher. Let’s make this year our most productive year yet!
