This Tuesday, September 29th, was September’s character education assembly. This month focused on courage. Many of our students have been courageous this month, but some have been noticeably more. The students who received this month’s certificate are:

October’s character trait is GRATITUDE, which is choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives. Mrs. MacBean and the grade 2s recited a poem and shared what they are grateful for. Great work!
Fundraiser
Terry Fox Run
On Monday, September 28th, Prestige School students and teachers participated in the Terry Fox School Run. Students had fun running or walking in the neighbourhood to carry on Terry's legacy of the Marathon of Hope. Prestige students raised $3057! Amazing job this year and thank you to everyone that donated.
Since we exceeded our goal, students will receive casual Fridays in October. Thank you Mrs. Amanda for organizing the Terry Fox Run every year.
High School · Fall Symposium
DECA
Prestige School’s DECA team attended the DECA Fall Symposium at Château Le Jardin on Monday, September 28.
Ms. Yana and Prestige students joined other DECA teams from across Ontario for the first major DECA event of the school year. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to network with other students and teacher advisors, build leadership skills, and learn more about the exciting year ahead.
The Fall Symposium is the first meeting of the year where teacher advisors and their executive teams come together to learn about the year’s plans and changes, receive tips on effectively managing a DECA chapter, and prepare for the competitions ahead.
The day included:
- an enthusiastic keynote speaker
- leadership activities
- event and competition tips
- mock role-plays
- networking with DECA students and advisors from across Ontario
- each delegate also received a gift and a hot buffet lunch
We are so proud of our DECA students for their enthusiasm, participation, and commitment. Here’s to a fantastic DECA year ahead for our students and Ms. Yana!

High School · Guidance
University Application Session
Last week, our grade 12 students participated in important University Guidance & Application Information Sessions, led by Ms. Yana, Vice Principal & Guidance, at our Richmond Hill Campus on Thursday and Toronto Campus on Friday.
Students received guidance on the university application process and explored opportunities across Ontario, throughout Canada, and around the world. The sessions covered:
- OUAC - how and when to apply to Ontario universities
- applying to universities outside of Ontario, Canada and all over the world
- ouinfo.ca — researching university programs, admission requirements, scholarships, events and more
- spoke about the importance of visiting the Ontario Universities’ Fair, which took place September 26–27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre
- planning ahead and staying organized throughout the application process
Some of our students have already started or even completed their applications, while others are continuing to research programs and universities to find the right fit for their future.
It is an exciting time for our grade 12 students as they take this important next step toward their post-secondary goals. We are looking forward to supporting them throughout the application journey and celebrating their university acceptances with them in the months ahead!
Community
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Prestige School is happy to announce our Thanksgiving Food Drive for 2026! The food drive will run from September 24th to October 8th, 2026.
We will be collecting non-perishable food items, including:
- canned tuna, salmon, chicken, and turkey
- canned beans (chickpeas, black beans), vegetables, and fruits
- soups, stews, and chili
- rice, pasta, oats, quinoa, and dry beans
- peanut butter, almond butter, honey, and jarred pasta sauce
- crackers, nuts, seeds, and dried fruits (raisins, apricots)
- bottled water, sports drinks, and powdered milk
The donation box will be located in the kindergarten room. Please have your child drop off their donations there. Let’s come together to help single mothers, families struggling financially, seniors, and other vulnerable members of our community who would be grateful for your kindness and generosity.
Every donation makes a difference. Thank you for helping us spread kindness and make this Thanksgiving a little brighter for those in need!
