High School:
Science
The secondary science program at our school is designed with the overarching aim of ensuring every student achieves scientific literacy. This program blends intellectual pursuit with practical, activity-based learning, all within a social context.
In Grades 11 and 12, the program is specifically tailored to prepare students for their next steps – whether heading to university, college, or the workplace. It focuses on building a robust conceptual and procedural foundation in science, enabling students to apply their knowledge and skills in diverse ways.
A key feature of our curriculum is the integration of sophisticated yet accessible computer applications and simulations. These technologies are not just tools for learning but also for doing science, helping students extend their understanding of concepts and solve real-world problems. This approach ensures students are well-versed in the technologies that are integral to modern scientific endeavors.
Why it’s important?
Scientific literacy is crucial in our increasingly scientific and technological world. Our program emphasizes science as both a body of knowledge and an experimental, inquiry-based process. It is structured to encourage students to be active participants in their own learning, connecting new scientific concepts and procedures with their prior knowledge in meaningful ways.
